SMS Helpers

By: Rebecca Barnet

Syringa Middle Schoolneeds your help! Every Thursday the SMS helpers get together and take out recycling. We also wash windows, put up borders on windows and bulletin boards, and we also get to make things for the people in the office and the janitors on Valentine’s Day. Also we might be able to make trick or treating bags of candy for Halloween and little decorations for Easter. Did I mention the teacher that runs this, It’s Mrs. Gomez!
We need help, the more people we have the faster we get done and the more time we have to do more fun stuff. Also sometimes we get rewards like Texas-sized jelly beans! (they are tasty) So we need your help and if you come you might get a “treat.”

Robotics Team

 By: Kat Webster
Mr. Maxton has organized an amazing team to use their noggins and build a robot to face against other schools in a race against time to build up points to win. The members include people fromJefferson andSyringaMiddle Schools. The team has to work together to engineer a robot that lifts bean bags into a trough and defend them. I went to their meeting on Wednesday and they were discussing the possible designs they could use. With limited time and resources an enormous problem stands in their way, but I know that with their brainpower and persistence they will create a robot that will smash the competition!

When the time to be chosen to be trained in a trade and to work in the castle he asks for Battleschool. When he isn’t chosen something unexpected happens. Monthly Horoscopes: October

Aries- There's a strong focus on being cooperative, supportive, and polite this month, but you could have difficulty turning your attention to getting along with others. Uranus is still in your sign, giving you a willful and independent spirit. You won't care what other people think, and you may act erratically. You could be involved in a passionate love affair at the start of the month, but it may not last unless you're willing to make a commitment. You can make a new start by entering into a true partnership after the New Moon in Libra on October 15.

Taurus- Venus is in Leo and your sector of home and family until October 3. This planet will help smooth over any issues, but you'll have to make an effort if you want to keep the peace. Mars is in Scorpio until October 6. During that time you could be argumentative and defensive when dealing with your partner or a member of the public. A Full Moon in your sign on October 29 will bring out your insecurities. You could overindulge if you feel down or stressed. Be careful - eating or drinking too much could compromise your health.

Gemini- You'll have a positive outlook and be open to new opportunities with Jupiter in your sign all month. It will be retrograde as of October 4, however, so you may not completely trust your instincts. Several planets and a New Moon in Libra will bring out your social and romantic side. You'll feel attractive and you'll be popular. Others will find you engaging. There will be plenty of opportunities for romance. Mars moves to Sagittarius on October 6 to bring tension and stress in your close relationships. You could be irritable and defensive with your romantic partner.

Cancer- Life at home or time spent dealing with your family will require more patience and cooperation than usual. Others might need advice or help and you may have to make yourself available. You're usually loving and caring, but some individuals might require extra attention and be a drain on your time, energy, and resources. A New Moon in Libra on October 15 will help you develop stronger people skills and the ability to create peace and harmony despite obstacles. Uranus in Aries complicates matters and brings situations where you'll have to choose between career and personal commitments.

Leo- Venus is in your sign for a few days at the beginning of the month. You'll feel attractive and be warm and affectionate with others. This planet could also bring a fleeting romantic connection with someone new. Planets and a New Moon in Libra will bring pleasant social events in your neighborhood or with your extended family. Teamwork will be involved if you're hosting a party or invited to a gathering. You may spend time with people who share your hobbies or interests. Mars is in Scorpio until October 6 and causing tension at home or with your family

Virgo- Love planet Venus moves to Virgo on October 3 to help you get along with others and be more loving and accepting of yourself. Neptune is opposite in Pisces and acting in concert with Venus to bring out compassion and empathy. All relationships should go smoothly, especially romantic ones, but you might not be realistic about your partner. Mars moves to Sagittarius on October 6 and will stir up tension at home or within your family. You could be argumentative, irritable, and demanding. Jupiter in Gemini all month will bring career options, but you could find it hard to choose among them.
Libra- Several planets in your sign will make this a memorable month. You'll feel confident, strong, and curious. You'll start new projects and have a fresh attitude. One of the planets is Saturn, however, so be cautious before jumping into anything. A New Moon in Libra on October 15 will bring out your natural talents and qualities. You'll be happy and focused on building your relationships for about a month. However, Uranus in Aries will bring a streak of independence and a desire for freedom. You'll have to balance your own interests with a need to please others.

Scorpio- Mars is in your sign until October 6, giving you plenty of energy and vitality. You'll be fearless and eager to take action and start new projects. You'll be more scattered after Mars moves to Sagittarius. Neptune in Pisces lends an emotional and spiritual connection to someone you're involved with or interested in romantically. Venus is in Leo until October 3, which means you may be perceived as charming but superficial, especially when networking for your career. A Full Moon in Taurus on October 29 could make close relationships stressful for a few days. Try not to be demanding or difficult.
Sagittarius- This will be a powerful and action-packed month for you. Mars moves to your sign on October 6. You'll be full of energy and eager to begin new projects. Several planets and a New Moon in Libra will bring a chance to socialize with friends and groups of like-minded individuals. Your get-togethers will be lively and interesting and give you a chance to catch up. You'll be popular, charming, and a good conversationalist. Jupiter in Gemini and opposite your sign could bring power struggles with your partner. Ultimately, you'll be respectful, supportive, and good to each other.
Capricorn- Pluto in your sign will continue to transform you and make you restless. Venus moves to Virgo on October 3, and you may have a chance to travel with friends or a loved one. You'll also feel creative this month. You may try to do some writing. Mars is in Scorpio for a few days at the beginning of the month, and during that time you'll be busy with friends and groups that you're involved with. Several planets in Libra will help you expand your career by networking, but you'll have to make an effort to be charming and social.
Aquarius- Venus is in Leo until October 3, bringing harmony and good vibes if you're in a relationship. You'll be passionate and affectionate with your partner. Planets and a New Moon in Libra will bring good times with friends and loved ones. You may travel together or collaborate on a project. Communication will improve and you'll share ideas and information on a regular basis. With Mars in Scorpio until October 6 and Mercury there most of the month, you can make new career connections. You must be proactive, however, and take a few risks in order to effect change.
Pisces- Neptune has moved retrograde to the cusp of your sign. You have been and will continue to be reflective. You'll have a strong need to be alone in peace and quiet. Progress will be made internally, but not so much in the outside world. You'll find it hard to focus and be productive for a while. However, this will be a highly creative time. Jupiter in Gemini could make dealing with your family difficult. You may feel overwhelmed by pressure from parents or other close relatives. Venus moves to Virgo on October 3, helping you to have good relations with your romantic partner.
