A horrible day in 3rd period class.

A horrible day in 3rd period class.

They have been talking all day and the teacher has had enough, but still can't keep the class quiet. Why is 6th grade so noisy? Some of the students get on the internet when they are not suppose to and look up images like ps4,xboxone,fat people, and soccer players. Please help us to control this class!Let's try our best to help people be quiet, and not to go on the internet unless given permission.Help us! Please be quiet or the teacher will YELL AT YOU! I did a little survey to find out why the class is so loud. Here are some responses. One student said he didn't know why the class is loud, another said it was because they talk to their friends. Please try to keep quiet during your 3rd period class.

Interview with Mr. Yowell (part two)

8) What was your favorite year of middle school?
Mr. Yowell said that it would be his 8th grade year. Not necessarily for school reasons. Just because, "7th grade just stunk."

9) How many degrees/credits did you finally graduate college with and what were they?
1 degree-BS in math, teaching certificate. And "A lot. A lot. A lot. A lot." of credits

10) Some people say that people are born with their ability to do math things. Do you agree with those people? Why or why not?
I do not agree because all people have ability to do math. "There's a part of the brain just for that." It's not always easy but everybody has number sense, it's a very human thing to do.

11) Have you always liked Math? What attracted you to Math?
No, I have not always liked math. I started liking it in my third year of college. I was really good at it. I was okay at Science, good at English, and good at History. I especially like classes that were after calculus such as topology and analyses. They are patterns and why things work the way they

12) Who is the teacher you are most thankful for? Why?
Mrs. Moody. She was my 7th grade teacher. It was like a class community. She was really nice and understanding. She made English interesting. Her class was fun to be in.

13) Do science and math have a lot of similarities? What are some of them? And differences?
Math describes Science

The Song of the Day!!!!

"Wake Me Up When September Ends"

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when September ends

like my father's come to pass
seven years has gone so fast
wake me up when September ends

here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are

as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when September ends

summer has come and passed
the innocent can never last
wake me up when September ends

ring out the bells again
like we did when spring began
wake me up when September ends

here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are

as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when September ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when September ends

like my father's come to pass
twenty years has gone so fast
wake me up when September ends
wake me up when September ends
wake me up when September ends

Song of the day! :)

"Sorry"

I've been thinking lately about you and me,
And all the questions left unanswered,
How it all could be.

And I hope you know,
You never left my head,
And if I ever let you down,
I'm sorry.

Whoa-oh

Oh NO NO NO!

Whoa-oh

I see you around here lately,
You smile brighter than you should.
And me I've been so lonely,
I'm glad you're doing good.

'Cause I can't forget,
The way it used to be,
And if I ever let you down,
Well I'm sorry.

Whoa-oh

No I can't let you go...

And you know that you can take all of me,
I swear I will be better than before,
So sing it back.

Whoa-oh

No I can't let you go

I'm sorry for the things I've done,
Things I've done.

I'm sorry for the man I was,
And how I treated you.

I'm sorry for the things I've done,
Things I've done.

I'm sorry for the man I was,
And how I treated you.

Whoa-oh

No I can't let you go...

And you know that you can take all of me,
I swear I will be better than before,
So sing it back.

Whoa-oh

No I can't let you go...

I've been thinking lately about you and me,
And all the questions left unanswered,
How it all could be.

And I hope you know,
You never left my head,
And if I ever let you down,
I'm sorry.

Song of the day! ^.^

"Safe And Sound"

I could lift you up
I could show you what you wanna see
And take you where you wanna be

You could be my luck
Even if the sky is falling down
I know that we'll be safe and sound

We're safe and sound

I could fill your cup
You know my river won't evaporate
This world we still appreciate

You could be my luck
Even in a hurricane of frowns
I know that we'll be safe and sound

Safe and sound
We're safe and sound
Safe and sound
We're safe and sound
Hold your ground
We're safe and sound
Safe and sound

I could show you love
In a tidal wave of mystery
You'll still be standing next to me

You could be my luck
Even if we're six feet underground
I know that we'll be safe and sound

We're safe and sound

Safe and sound
Safe and sound
Hold your ground
Safe and sound

I could lift you up
I could show you what you wanna see
And take you where you wanna be

You could be my luck
Even if the sky is falling down
I know that we'll be safe and sound

I could lift you up
I could show you what you wanna see
And take you where you wanna be

You could be my luck
Even if the sky is falling down
I know that we'll be safe and sound

We're safe and sound
We're safe and sound
We're safe and sound
We're safe and sound

Safe and sound
We're safe and sound
Safe and sound
We're safe and sound
Hold your ground
We're safe and sound
Safe and sound
We're safe and sound

An interview with Mr. Yowell

Today I had the opportunity to interview Syringa Middle School’s very own Math genius, Mr. Yowell! My helper and I asked him a variety of questions, including some that might even help you.  We started off the interview with questions regarding his college work, and then went on to his favorite years of school and subjects in those years. We asked for some advice and what else he would do if he weren’t a Math teacher.  Here are the questions we asked:
1)      What or who made you want to become a teacher?
Mr. Yowell said he went to college with no career or major in mind. He was told to try a class in each and every department. He did just that and found that the Education department was what he liked and he stuck with it.
2)      If you could teach any other subject what would it be?
He said that if he wasn’t to teach math, that he’d love to teach the German language.
3)      Do you often get the question “When will I use this in life?” and what is usually your answer?
He said that he gets the question a lot! The answer to that question is actually that you will use math everywhere. It actually depends on how advanced the math is. Some math is a lot like sports fundamentals. Like learning to dribble a basketball, you don’t just stand there and dibble, but you will use it as a skill during the game!
4)      What would you like to do, job wise, if you weren’t a teacher?
Either a Programming Architect or an Actuary.  Interesting fact; an actuary is a number cruncher for insurance companies.
5)      What is your favorite thing about your job here at Syringa?
“I like sharing my love of math…excitement of Math. If that makes sense.”
6)      What advice would you give students wanting to become a teacher?
Volunteer at elementary schools as an aide. See what it’s like from the teacher’s view. It can actually be quite the surprise.
7)      What college did you go to? What made you decide to go there?
Mr. Yowell went to the College of Idaho, here in Caldwell, Idaho. He went there for 3 reasons. Ultimately the cheapest school for him to go to. He wanted to go to a small school. He wanted to go to a liberal arts college because he agrees with their philosophy, “Learn a little about everything and you know a lot about everything”

Stay tuned for the other half of the Interview!

Song of the day! ^.^

"The Fox"

Dog goes woof, cat goes meow.
Bird goes tweet, and mouse goes squeak.
Cow goes moo. Frog goes croak, and the elephant goes toot.
Ducks say quack and fish go blub, and the seal goes OW OW OW.
But there's one sound that no one knows...
WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY?

Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!
Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!
Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!
WHAT THE FOX SAY?
Wa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pow!
Wa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pow!
Wa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pow!
WHAT THE FOX SAY?
Hatee-hatee-hatee-ho!
Hatee-hatee-hatee-ho!
Hatee-hatee-hatee-ho!
WHAT THE FOX SAY?
Joff-tchoff-tchoff-tchoffo-tchoffo-tchoff!
Joff-tchoff-tchoff-tchoffo-tchoffo-tchoff!
Joff-tchoff-tchoff-tchoffo-tchoffo-tchoff!
WHAT THE FOX SAY?

Big blue eyes, pointy nose, chasing mice, and digging holes.
Tiny paws, up the hill, suddenly you're standing still.
Your fur is red, so beautiful, like an angel in disguise.
But if you meet a friendly horse, will you communicate by mo-o-o-o-orse, mo-o-o-o-orse, mo-o-o-o-orse?
How will you speak to that h-o-o-orse, h-o-o-orse, h-o-o-orse?
WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY?!

Jacha-chacha-chacha-chow!
Jacha-chacha-chacha-chow!
Jacha-chacha-chacha-chow!
WHAT THE FOX SAY?
Fraka-kaka-kaka-kaka-kow!
Fraka-kaka-kaka-kaka-kow!
Fraka-kaka-kaka-kaka-kow!
WHAT THE FOX SAY?
A-hee-ahee ha-hee!
A-hee-ahee ha-hee!
A-hee-ahee ha-hee!
WHAT THE FOX SAY?
A-oo-oo-oo-ooo!
A-oo-oo-oo-ooo!
WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY?!

The secret of the fox, ancient mystery.
Somewhere deep in the woods, I know you're hiding.
What is your sound? Will we ever know?
Will always be a mystery what do you say?

You're my guardian angel hiding in the woods.
What is your sound? (A-bubu-duh-bubu-dwee-dum a-bubu-duh-bubu-dwee-dum)
Will we ever know? (A-bubu-duh-bubu-dwee-dum)
I want to, I want to, I want to know! (A-bubu-duh-bubu-dwee-dum)

(bay-buh-day bum-bum bay-dum)

Song of the day ;)

"Kiss It Better"

He sits in his cell,
And he lays on his bed.
Covers his head and closes his eyes.
He sees a smoking gun,
And the coward he ran.
And in his arms is the bleeding
Love of his life.

And she cried,
"Kiss it all better,
I’m not ready to go.
It’s not your fault, love,
You didn’t know, you didn’t know."

Her hands are so cold,
And he kisses her face
And says, “Everything will be all right."
He noticed the gun,
And his rage grew inside.
He said, “I’ll avenge my lover tonight”.

And she cried,
"Kiss it all better,
I’m not ready to go.
It’s not your fault love,
You didn't know, you didn't know."

Now he sits behind prison bars,
25 to life and she's not in his arms.
He couldn’t bring her back with a bullet to the heart
In the back of a man who tore his world apart.

He holds on to her memory,
All it is, is a memory.
Hey, hey.

He cries,
Stay with me until I fall asleep,
Stay with me.
Stay with me until I fall asleep,
Stay with me.
Stay with me until I fall asleep,
Stay with me.
Stay with me until I fall asleep,
Stay with me.

Kiss it all better,
I’m not ready to go.
It’s not your fault love,
You didn’t know, you didn’t know.

(Kiss it all better.)
Stay with me until I fall asleep,
Stay with me.
Stay with me until i fall asleep,
Stay with me.
(kiss it all better.)
Stay with me until I fall asleep,
Stay with me.
Stay with me until I fall asleep,
Stay with me.

Song of the day!!! :D

"Gold"

Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh

You were walking on the moon, now you're feeling low
What they said wasn't true, you're beautiful
Sticks and stones break your bones, I know what you're feeling
Words like those won't steal your glow, you're one in a million

This, this is for all the girls, boys all over the world
Whatever you've been told, you're worth more than gold
So hold your head up high, it's your time to shine
From the inside out it shows, you're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)
You're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)

Well everybody keeps score, afraid you're gonna lose
Just ignore they don't know the real you
All the rain in the sky can't put out your fire
Of all the stars out tonight, you shine brighter

This, this is for all the girls, boys all over the world
Whatever you've been told, you're worth more than gold
So hold your head up high, it's your time to shine
From the inside out it shows, you're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)
You're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)

So don't let anybody tell you that you're not loved
And don't let anybody tell you that you're not enough
Yeah there are days that we all feel like we're messed up
But the truth is that we're all diamonds in the rough
So don't be ashamed to wear your crown
You're a king you're a queen inside and out
You glow like the moon, you shine like the stars
This is for you, wherever you are

Oh, oh, yeah, yeah, oh, oh,
You're gold

This, this is for all the girls, boys all over the world
Whatever you've been told, you're worth more than gold
(So hold your head) So hold your head up high,
It's your time to shine
From the inside out it shows, you're worth more than gold
(gold gold, you're gold)
You're worth more than gold
(gold gold you're gold)

So don't be ashamed to wear your crown
You're a king you're a queen inside and out

Song of the day!! :)

You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody’s lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing’s gonna hurt you the way that words do
When they settle ‘neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

Everybody’s been there,
Everybody’s been stared down by the enemy
Fallen for the fear
And done some disappearing,
Bow down to the mighty
Don’t run, stop holding your tongue
Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
Show me how big your brave is

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

And since your history of silence
Won’t do you any good,
Did you think it would?
Let your words be anything but empty
Why don’t you tell them the truth?

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
See you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
