Track Meet

Syringa hosted it's track meet at CHS last night. Despite the thunder, rain, and hail, the Panthers ran on, placing well and creating new PR's in almost every race. Great Job Panthers!

Boston Marathon

Dear Parents/Students,

The Syringa Family would like to send our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the runners and spectators who were injured yesterday in the bomb blast at the Boston Marathon.

Language Usage Goal

Congratulations, Panthers! We have reached our goal for the Language Usage ISAT! This means that we will be having the first part of the proficiency party with the whole entire school. Keep up the good work and rock the Reading ISAT!

ISAT!

Good job to all of the students who took their Language Usage ISATs this week. Keep up the good work!

E-Day!

Some of our students  participated in an engineering day (E-Day) at BSU. They had the chance to work with BSU engineering students on Design-Build Challenge projects, ride a segway, and learn about engineering. They hope that you will come and join them next year.

Word of the Day!

Todays word of the day is the comma splice! A comma splice is the use of a comma to join two independent clauses. 
For example:

It is nearly half past five, we cannot reach town before dark.

ISATS!

Lowest Terms

   

 Today's word of the day is lowest terms.  A fraction is in lowest terms when the only common factor between the numerator and denominator is 1.

     Get Some Practice:  Write the fraction 8 / 10 in lowest terms.

Evaluate

The word of the day is Evaluate.  "Evaluate" means find the value of an expression.

     Get some practice: Evaluate the expression x + 3 for when x = 12.  

R - Respect Myself and Others!

Congratulations to the winners of the R - Respect Myself and Others! award. This will be the last character award of the year before the Ring Awards.

Oh, the Places You'll Go!

We are making a yearbook page about "the places you'll go", and we need your help! Please send us your pictures of places that you went over spring break. The deadline is Friday, April 5th, so don't procrastinate!  We will include the best ones in the yearbook. Staff, feel free to submit your pictures as well!

April Fool's Day

Happy April Fools Day! This is a day to pull pranks on your friends, but don't go to far! :)
