SPORTS
Basketball: Our 8th grade B boys basketball team took down Jefferson last night in a great win.  Hugo came up big in the end w/ some great rebounds and points to seal the victory.  Our presence w/ rebounds helped to defeat the Cougs.  Sam put in a great effort to lead the offense and Toryn stepped up for a time to give Sam a break. Jojo made some sweet steals to halt Jefferson.  Nice work all around, fellas!  3-2 sounds pretty good right about now.  Way to defend your home court!  Let's keep it up!
Your Syringa Panthers were in action last night taking on cross-town rivals Jefferson Middle School. The game was exactly what a rivalry game should be, full of back and forth action, with emotions running high for both teams. The Panthers found themselves trailing early but were able to close the gap to just 3 points heading into halftime. The second half was much like the first with neither team able to establish a big lead. Syringa came up clutch down the stretch with a huge put-back basket by Brandon Fine to give the Panthers the lead for good. The leading scorer for the Panthers was Dylan Shields who finished with 18 points before fouling out late in the fourth quarter. Israel Briones, Luis Garcia and Riley Tennison also got in the scoring column for Syringa. The victory was huge for the Panther's playoff hopes as the improved their record to 2-3 on the season. Excellent job fellas, way to keep fighting to the bitter end. Hold your heads up high and enjoy this one!

Field Trip to Boise

On Tuesday, January 22, 2013 Syringa Middle School's student council went on a field trip to Boise. They traveled around the area starting at Boise State University. There, they vistited the football field, sports medicine, dorm halls, library, Morrison Center and student union building. The students ate their lunches at the SUB, and moved onto the Boise Capitol Building. Caldwell's representatives met up with Syringa in the welcome room, where they explained what went on in the building. A tour guide led them around telling stories about different rooms. They ended the tour, and the trip, by taking a picture with Governor Butch Otter and asking him questions.
